Hosea14

A Call to Repentance

Return, Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled in your iniquity.

Take with you words and return to the LORD. Say to him, “Bear away all iniquity and take what is good, and let us repay the bulls of our lips.

Assyria will not save us; on a horse we will not ride; and we will no longer say, ‘Our God,’ to the work of our hands — for in you the orphan finds compassion.”

A Promise of God’s Blessing

I will heal their turning away; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned back from him.

I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like the lily and strike his roots like Lebanon.

His shoots will go out, and his splendor will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance like Lebanon.

Those who dwell in his shade will return; they will revive grain and blossom like the vine; his remembrance will be like the wine of Lebanon.

Ephraim — what have I to do any longer with idols? I myself have answered and I look after him. I am like a green cypress; from me your fruit is found.

Who is wise, that he may understand these things? Discerning, that he may know them? For the ways of the LORD are upright, and the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.
