Hebrews2

Salvation Confirmed

Because of this it behooves us to give heed more abundantly to the things we have heard, otherwise we may drift away.

For if the word spoken through angels was unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense,

how will we escape, having neglected so great a salvation? Which, having received a commencement of being declared through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those having heard,

God bearing witness together with them by signs and by wonders and by various miracles and by distributions of the Holy Spirit according to his will.

Jesus like His Brothers

For not to angels did he subject the coming world, concerning which we are speaking;

but someone has testified somewhere, saying, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the angels; with glory and with honor you crowned him,

all things you put in subjection under his feet.” For in the subjecting of all things to him, he left nothing to him unsubject. But at present we do not yet see all things subjected to him;

but we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels because of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and with honor, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

For it was fitting for him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the originator of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

For both the one sanctifying and those being sanctified are all of one; for which reason he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praises.”

And again, “I myself will be trusting in him.” And again, “Behold, I myself and the children whom God has given me.”

Since therefore the children have partaken of blood and of flesh, he himself likewise also took part in the same things, so that through death he might destroy the one holding the power of death, that is, the devil,

and might set free those who, by fear of death, through all their living were subject to slavery.

For surely it is not angels he helps, but he helps the seed of Abraham.

Therefore it was necessary for him in all things to be made like his brothers, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the things relating to God, in order to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

For in that he himself has suffered, having been tempted, he is able to help those being tempted.
