Paul’s Greeting to the Galatians
Paul, an apostle — not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead —
and all the brothers with me, to the churches of Galatia:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave himself for our sins, so that he might deliver us out of the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
to whom be the glory to the ages of the ages. Amen.
No Other Gospel
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you in the grace of Christ, for a different gospel —
which is not another, except that there are some troubling you and desiring to pervert the gospel of Christ.
But even if we or an angel out of heaven should evangelize to you contrary to what we evangelized to you, let him be accursed.
As we have said before, even now again I say: if anyone is evangelizing to you contrary to what you received, let him be accursed.
Paul Preaches the Gospel
For am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I seeking to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
For I make known to you, brothers, that the gospel evangelized by me is not according to man;
for neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but through a revelation of Jesus Christ.
For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, that beyond measure I was persecuting the church of God and destroying it,
and I was advancing in Judaism beyond many contemporaries in my nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me through his grace, was pleased
to reveal his Son in me so that I might evangelize him among the Gentiles, immediately I did not consult with flesh and blood,
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went away into Arabia and returned again to Damascus.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to make acquaintance with Cephas, and I remained with him fifteen days;
but I saw no other of the apostles except James the brother of the Lord.
Now in what I write to you, behold, before God, I do not lie.
Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea that are in Christ;
only they were hearing that the one formerly persecuting us is now evangelizing the faith that once he was destroying,
and they were glorifying God in me.
