But he himself wenta day'sjourneyinto the wilderness, and cameand sat downunder ajuniper tree:and he requestedfor himselfthat he might die;and said,It is enough;now, O LORD,take awaymy life;for I am not betterthan my fathers.
And as he layand sleptunder ajuniper tree, behold, then an angeltouchedhim, and saidunto him, Ariseand eat.
And he looked, and, behold, there was a cakebaken on the coals, and a cruseof waterat his head. And he did eatand drink, and laid him downagain.

And he said,Go forth, and standupon the mountbeforethe LORD.And, behold, the LORDpassed by,and a greatand strongwindrentthe mountains, and brake in piecesthe rocksbeforethe LORD;but the LORDwas not in the wind:and afterthe windan earthquake;but the LORDwas not in the earthquake:
And afterthe earthquakea fire;but the LORDwas not in the fire:and afterthe firea stillsmallvoice.
And it was so, when Elijahheardit, that he wrappedhis facein his mantle, and went out,and stoodin the entering inof the cave. And, behold, there came a voiceunto him, and said,What doest thou here, Elijah?
And he said,I have been veryjealousfor the LORDGodof hosts:because the childrenof Israelhave forsakenthy covenant, thrown downthine altars, and slainthy prophetswith the sword;and I, even I only, am left;and they seekmy life,to take it away.

And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeththe swordof Hazaelshall Jehuslay:and him that escapethfrom the swordof Jehushall Elishaslay.
Yet I have leftme seventhousandin Israel, all the kneeswhich have not bowedunto Baal, and every mouthwhich hath not kissedhim.
So he departedthence, and foundElishathe sonof Shaphat, who was plowingwith twelveyokeof oxen beforehim, and he with the twelfth:and Elijahpassedby him, and casthis mantleupon him.
And he leftthe oxen, and ranafterElijah, and said,Let me, I pray thee, kissmy fatherand my mother, and then I will followthee. And he saidunto him, Go backagain:for what have I doneto thee?
