Then Jacobwent onhis journey,and cameinto the landof the peopleof the east.
And he looked,and behold a wellin the field,and, lo, therewerethreeflocksof sheeplyingby it; for out of that wellthey wateredthe flocks:and a greatstonewasupon the well'smouth.
And thither were all the flocksgathered:and they rolledthe stonefrom the well'smouth,and wateredthe sheep,and putthe stoneagainupon the well'smouthin his place.
And Jacobsaidunto them, My brethren,whencebeye? And they said,Of Haran
And he saidunto them, Knowye Labanthe sonof Nahor?And they said,We know
And he saidunto them,Ishe well?And they said,He iswell:and, behold, Rachelhis daughtercomethwith the sheep.
And he said,Lo,it isyet highday,neitheris ittimethat the cattleshould be gathered together:waterye the sheep,and goandfeed
And they said,We cannot,until all the flocksbe gathered together,andtillthey rollthe stonefrom the well'smouth;then we waterthe sheep.
And while he yetspakewith them, Rachelcamewith her father'ssheep:for she kept them.
And it came to pass, when JacobsawRachelthe daughterof Labanhis mother'sbrother,and the sheepof Labanhis mother'sbrother,that Jacobwent near,and rolledthe stonefrom the well'smouth,and wateredthe flockof Labanhis mother'sbrother.
And JacobkissedRachel,and lifted uphis voice,and wept.
And JacobtoldRachelthat hewasher father'sbrother,and that hewasRebekah'sson:and she ranand toldher father.
And it came to pass, when Labanheardthe tidingsof Jacobhis sister'sson,that he ranto meethim, and embracedhim, and kissedhim, and broughthim to his house.And he toldLabanall these things.
And Labansaidto him, Surelythouartmy boneand my flesh.And he abodewith him the spaceof a month.
And Labansaidunto Jacob,Because thouartmy brother,shouldest thou therefore serveme for nought?tellme, whatshallthy wages
And Labanhad twodaughters:the nameof the elderwasLeah,and the nameof the youngerwasRachel.
And JacoblovedRachel;and said,I will servethee sevenyearsfor Rachelthy youngerdaughter.
And Labansaid,It isbetterthat I giveher to thee, than that I should giveher to anotherman:abide
And Jacobservedsevenyearsfor Rachel;and they seemedunto himbuta fewdays,for the love he had
And Jacobsaidunto Laban,Givememy wife,for my daysare fulfilled,that I may go in
And Labangathered togetherall the menof the place,and madea feast.
And it came to pass in the evening,that he tookLeahhis daughter,and broughther to him; and he went in
And Labangaveunto his daughterLeahZilpahhis maidforan handmaid.
And it came to pass, that in the morning,behold, itwasLeah:and he saidto Laban,Whatisthis thou hast doneunto me? did not I servewith thee for Rachel?wherefore then hast thou beguiled
And Labansaid,It must not be so donein our country,to givethe youngerbeforethe firstborn.
Fulfilherweek,and we will givethee this also for the servicewhich thou shalt servewith me yet sevenotheryears.
And Jacobdidso, and fulfilledher week:and he gavehim Rachelhis daughterto wife
And Labangaveto Rachelhis daughterBilhahhis handmaidto be her maid.
And he went inalso unto Rachel,and he lovedalso Rachelmore than Leah,and servedwith him yet sevenotheryears.
And when the LORDsawthat Leahwashated,he openedher womb:but Rachelwasbarren.
And Leahconceived,and barea son,and she calledhis nameReuben:forshe said,Surelythe LORDhath lookedupon my affliction;now thereforemy husbandwill love
And she conceivedagain, and barea son;and said,Because the LORDhath heardthat Iwashated,he hath therefore givenme thissonalso: and she calledhis nameSimeon.
And she conceived again,and barea son;and said,Now this timewill my husbandbe joinedunto me, because I have bornhim threesons:therefore was his namecalledLevi.
And she conceivedagain, and barea son:and she said,Nowwill I praisethe LORD:therefore she calledhis nameJudah;and leftbearing.
