And there cametwoangelsto Sodomat even;and Lotsatin the gateof Sodom:and Lotseeingthemrose upto meetthem; and he bowedhimself with his facetoward the ground;
And he said,Behold now, my lords,turn in,I pray you, into your servant'shouse,and tarry all night,and washyour feet,and ye shall rise up early,and goon your ways.And they said,Nay; but we will abidein the streetall night.
And he pressedupon them greatly;and they turned inunto him, and enteredinto his house;and he madethem a feast,and did bakeunleavened bread,and they did eat.
But before they lay down,the menof the city,eventhe menof Sodom,compassedthe houseround,both oldand young,all the peoplefrom every quarter:
And they calledunto Lot,and saidunto him, Wherearethe menwhich came into thee this night?bring them outunto us, that we may know
And Lotwent outat the doorunto them, and shutthe doorafter him,
And said,I pray you, brethren,do not so wickedly.
Behold now, I have twodaughterswhich have not knownman;let me, I pray you, bring them outunto you, and doye to them asisgoodin your eyes:only unto thesemendonothing;for therefore camethey under the shadowof my roof.
And they said,Standback.And they saidagain, This onefellowcame into sojourn,and he will needsbe a judge:now will we deal worsewith thee, than with them. And they pressedsoreupon the man,evenLot,and came nearto breakthe door.
But the menput forththeir hand,and pulledLotinto the houseto them, and shutto the door.
And they smotethe menthatwereat the doorof the housewith blindness,both smalland great:so that they weariedthemselves to findthe door.
And the mensaidunto Lot,Hast thou hereanybesides? son in law,and thy sons,and thy daughters,and whatsoeverthou hast in the city,bringthemoutof this place:
For wewill destroythis place,because the cry of themis waxen greatbeforethe faceof the LORD;and the LORDhath sentus to destroy
And Lotwent out,and spakeunto his sons in law,which marriedhis daughters,and said,Up,get you outof this place;for the LORDwill destroythis city.But he seemed as one that mockeduntohis sons in law.
And whenthe morningarose,then the angelshastenedLot,saying,Arise,takethy wife,and thy twodaughters,which are here;lest thou be consumedin the iniquityof the city.
And while he lingered,the menlaid holdupon his hand,and upon the handof his wife,and upon the handof his twodaughters;the LORDbeing mercifulunto him: and they brought him forth,and set himwithoutthe city.
And it came to pass, when they had brought them forthabroad,that he said,Escapeforthy life;looknot behind thee,neither staythou in all the plain;escapeto the mountain,lest thou be consumed.
And Lotsaidunto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
Behold now, thy servanthath foundgracein thy sight,and thou hast magnifiedthy mercy,which thou hast shewedunto mein savingmy life;and I cannotescapeto the mountain,lest some eviltakeme, and I die:
Behold now, this cityisnearto fleeunto, and itisa little one:Oh, let me escapethither, (isit not a little one?)and my soulshall live.
And he saidunto him, See,I have acceptedtheeconcerning this thingalso, that I will not overthrowthis city,for the whichthou hast spoken.
Hastethee, escapethither; for I cannotdoany thingtill thou be comethither. Therefore the nameof the citywas calledZoar.
The sunwas risenupon the earthwhen Lotenteredinto Zoar.
Then the LORDrainedupon Sodomand upon Gomorrahbrimstoneand firefrom the LORDout of heaven;
And he overthrewthosecities,and all the plain,and all the inhabitantsof the cities,and that which grewupon the ground.
But his wifelooked backfrom behind him,and she became a pillarof salt.
And Abrahamgat up earlyin the morningto the placewhere he stoodbeforethe LORD:
And he lookedtowardSodomand Gomorrah,and towardall the landof the plain,and beheld,and, lo, the smokeof the countrywent upas the smokeof a furnace.
And it came to pass, when Goddestroyedthe citiesof the plain,that GodrememberedAbraham,and sentLotout of the midstof the overthrow,when he overthrewthe citiesin the whichLotdwelt.
And Lotwent upout of Zoar,and dweltin the mountain,and his twodaughterswith him; for he fearedto dwellin Zoar:and he dweltin a cave,he and his twodaughters.
