Thus says the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’s house, all the words that I command you to speak to them; diminish not a word:
If so be they will listen,and turnevery manfrom his evilway,that I may repentme of the evil,which I purposeto doto them becauseof the evilof their doings.
And you shall sayto them, Thus saysthe LORD;If you will not listento me, to walkin my law,which I have setbeforeyou,
To listento the wordsof my servantsthe prophets,whom I sentto you, both rising up early,and sendingthem, but you have not listened;
Then will I makethis houselike Shiloh,and will makethis citya curseto all the nationsof the earth.
Jeremiah Threatened with Death
So the priestsand the prophetsand all the peopleheardJeremiahspeakingthese wordsin the houseof the LORD.
Now it happened, when Jeremiahhad made an endof speakingall that the LORDhad commandedhimto speakto all the people,that the priestsand the prophetsand all the peopletookhim, saying,You shall surelydie.
Why have you prophesiedin the nameof the LORD,saying,This houseshall be like Shiloh,and this cityshall be desolatewithout an inhabitant?And all the peoplewere gatheredagainst Jeremiahin the houseof the LORD.
When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house to the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD’s house.
Then spokethe priestsand the prophetsto the princesand to all the people,saying,This manisworthyto die;for he has prophesiedagainst this city,as you have heardwith your ears.
Then spokeJeremiahto all the princesand to all the people,saying,The LORDsentme to prophesyagainst this houseand against this cityall the wordsthat you have heard.
Therefore now amendyour waysand your doings,and obeythe voiceof the LORDyour God;and the LORDwill repenthim of the evilthat he has pronouncedagainst you.
As for me, look, Iamin your hand:dowith me as seemsgoodand meetto you.
But know you for certain, that if you put me to death, you shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon its inhabitants: for of a truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.
Jeremiah Spared from Death

Then rose up some of the elders of the land, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying,
Micahthe Morasthiteprophesiedin the daysof Hezekiahkingof Judah,and spoketo all the peopleof Judah,saying,Thus saysthe LORDof hosts;Zionshall be plowedlikea field,and Jerusalemshall become heaps,and the mountainof the houseas the high placesof a forest.
Did Hezekiahkingof Judahand all Judahput him at allto death?did he not fearthe LORD,and beggedthe LORD,and the LORDrepentedhim of the evilwhich he had pronouncedagainst them? Thusmight we procuregreatevilagainst our souls.
The Prophet Uriah
And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath-jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
And when Jehoiakimthe king,with all his mighty men,and all the princes,heardhis words,the kingsoughtto put him to death:but when Urijahheardit, he was afraid,and fled,and wentinto Egypt;
And Jehoiakimthe kingsentmeninto Egypt,namely, Elnathanthe sonof Achbor,andcertainmenwith him into Egypt.
And they fetched forthUrijahout of Egypt,and broughthim to Jehoiakimthe king;who slewhim with the sword,and casthis dead bodyinto the gravesof the commonpeople.
Nevertheless the handof Ahikamthe sonof Shaphanwas with Jeremiah,that they should not givehim into the handof the peopleto put him to death.
