Again, Davidgathered togetherall the chosenmen of Israel,thirtythousand.
And Davidarose,and wentwith all the peoplethat were with him from Baale of Judah,to bring upfrom there the arkof God,whose nameis calledby the nameof the LORDof hoststhat dwellsbetween the cherubim.
And they setthe arkof Godupon a newcart,and broughtit out of the houseof Abinadabthat was in Gibeah:and Uzzahand Ahio,the sonsof Abinadab,drovethe newcart.
And they broughtit out of the houseof Abinadabwhich was at Gibeah,accompanyingthe arkof God:and Ahiowentbeforethe ark.
Uzzah Touches the Ark
And Davidand all the houseof Israelplayedbeforethe LORDon all manner of instruments made of firwood,even on harps,and on psalteries,and on timbrels,and on cornets,and on cymbals.
And when they cameto Nachon’sthreshing floor,Uzzahput forthhis hand to the arkof God,and took holdof it; for the oxenshookit.
And the angerof the LORDwas kindledagainst Uzzah;and Godstruckhim there for his error;and there he diedby the arkof God.
And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez-uzzah to this day.
And Davidwas afraidof the LORDthat day,and said,How shall the arkof the LORDcometo me?
So David would not remove the ark of the LORD to him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.
The Ark Brought to Jerusalem
And it was told king David, saying, The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness.
And it was so, that when they that borethe arkof the LORDhad gonesixpaces,he sacrificedoxenand fatlings.
And Daviddancedbeforethe LORDwith all his might;and Davidwas girdedwith a linenephod.
So Davidand all the houseof Israelbrought upthe arkof the LORDwith shouting,and with the soundof the trumpet.
Michal’s Contempt for David
And as the arkof the LORDcameinto the cityof David,MichalSaul’sdaughterlookedthrough a window,and sawkingDavidleapingand dancingbeforethe LORD;and she despisedhim in her heart.
And they broughtin the arkof the LORD,and setit in his place,in the midstof the tabernaclethat Davidhad pitchedfor it: and Davidofferedburnt offeringsand peace offeringsbeforethe LORD.
And as soon as Davidhad made an endof offeringburnt offeringsand peace offerings,he blessedthe peoplein the nameof the LORDof hosts.
And he dealtamong all the people,even among the whole multitudeof Israel,as well to the womenas men,to every oneacakeof bread,and a good pieceof flesh, and a flagonof wine. So all the peopledepartedevery oneto his house.
Then Davidreturnedto blesshis household.And Michalthe daughterof Saulcame outto meetDavid,and said,How gloriouswas the kingof Israeltoday,who uncoveredhimself todayin the eyesof the maidservantsof his servants,as oneof the vain fellowsshamelesslyuncovershimself!
And Davidsaidto Michal,It was beforethe LORD,which choseme before your father,and before all his house,to appointme rulerover the peopleof the LORD,over Israel:therefore will I playbeforethe LORD.
And I will yet be more vilethan thus,and will be basein my own sight:and of the maidservantswhich you have spokenof, of them shall I be had in honor.
Therefore Michalthe daughterof Saulhad no childto the dayof her death.
