And the gloryof the Godof Israelwas gone upfrom the cherub,whereupon he was, to the thresholdof the house.And he calledto the manclothedwith linen,whichhadthe writer’sinkhornby his side;
And the LORD said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that are done in its midst.
And to the othershe saidin my hearing,Goyou afterhim through the city,and strike:let not your eyespare,neither have you pity:
Slayutterlyoldandyoung,both maids,and little children,and women:but come not nearany manupon whomisthe mark;and beginat my sanctuary.Then they beganat the ancientmenwhichwerebeforethe house.
And he saidto them, Defilethe house,and fillthe courtswith the slain:go you forth.And they went forth,and slewin the city.
And it happened, while they were slayingthem, and I was left,that I fellupon my face,and cried,and said,AhLordGOD!will you destroyall the residueof Israelin your pouring outof your furyupon Jerusalem?
Then he said to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD has forsaken the earth, and the LORD sees not.
And as for me also, my eyeshall not spare,neither will I have pity,butI will recompensetheir wayupon their head.
And indeed, the manclothedwith linen,whichhadthe inkhornby his side,reportedthe matter,saying,I have doneas you have commandedme.
