Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord GOD; Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are a man, and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God:
Look, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from you:
With your wisdomand with your understandingyou have gottenyou riches, and have gottengoldand silverinto your treasures:
By your greatwisdomandby your traffickhave you increasedyour riches, and your heartis lifted upbecause of your riches:
Therefore thus saysthe LordGOD;Because you have setyour heartas the heartof God;
Look, therefore I will bringstrangersupon you, the terribleof the nations:and they shall drawtheir swordsagainst the beautyof your wisdom, and they shall defileyour brightness.
They shall bring you downto the pit,and you shall diethe deathsofthem that areslainin the midstof the seas.
Will you yetsaybeforehim that slaysyou, IamGod?but youshall bea man,and no God,in the handof him that slaysyou.
You shall diethe deathsof the uncircumcisedby the handof strangers:for I have spokenit, saysthe LordGOD.
A Lament for the King of Tyre
Moreover the wordof the LORDcame to me, saying,
Sonof man, take upa lamentationupon the kingof Tyre, and sayto him, Thus saysthe LordGOD;You seal upthe sum, fullof wisdom, and perfectin beauty.
You have been in Edenthe gardenof God;every preciousstonewasyour covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold:the workmanshipof your tabretsand of your pipeswas preparedin you in the daythat you were created.
You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set you so: you were upon the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Youwereperfectin your waysfrom the daythat you were created, till iniquitywas foundin you.
By the multitudeof your merchandisethey have filledthe midstof you with violence, and you have sinned:therefore I will cast you as profaneout of the mountainof God:and I will destroyyou, O coveringcherub, from the midstof the stonesof fire.
Your heartwas lifted upbecause of your beauty, you have corruptedyour wisdomby reason ofyour brightness:I will castyou to the ground,I will layyou beforekings, that they may lookyou.
You have defiledyour sanctuariesby the multitudeof your iniquities,by the iniquityof your traffick;therefore will I bring fortha firefrom the midstof you, it shall devouryou, and I will bringyou to ashesupon the earthin the sightof all them that lookyou.
All they that knowyou among the peopleshall be astonishedat you: you shall be a terror, and nevershallyoubeany more.
And say,Thus saysthe LordGOD;Look, Iamagainst you, O Sidon;and I will be glorifiedin the midstof you: and they shall knowthat Iamthe LORD,when I shall have executedjudgmentsin her, and shall be sanctifiedin her.
For I will sendinto her pestilence, and bloodinto her streets;and the woundedshall be judgedin the midstof her by the swordupon her on every side;and they shall knowthat Iamthe LORD.
And there shall be no more a prickingbrierto the houseof Israel, noranygrievingthornof allthat areround aboutthem, that despisedthem; and they shall knowthat Iamthe LordGOD.
The Restoration of Israel
Thus saysthe LordGOD;When I shall have gatheredthe houseof Israelfrom the peopleamong whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctifiedin them in the sightof the pagans, then shall they dwellin their landthat I have givento my servantJacob.
And they shall dwellsafelytherein, and shall buildhouses, and plantvineyards;yes, they shall dwellwith confidence, when I have executedjudgmentsupon all those that despisethem round aboutthem; and they shall knowthat Iamthe LORDtheir God.
