On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy to Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her.
And the kingtook offhis ring,which he had takenfrom Haman,and gaveit to Mordecai.And EsthersetMordecaiover the houseof Haman.
And Estherspokeyet againbeforethe king,and fell downathis feet,and beggedhim with tearsto put awaythe mischiefof Hamanthe Agagite,and his devicethat he had devisedagainst the Jews.
Then the kingheld outthe goldensceptertoward Esther.So Estherarose,and stoodbeforethe king,
And said,If it pleasethe king,and if I have foundfavorin his sight,and the thingseemrightbeforethe king,and Ibepleasingin his eyes,let it be writtento reversethe lettersdevisedby Hamanthe sonof Hammedathathe Agagite,which he wroteto destroythe Jewswhicharein all the king’sprovinces:
For howcan I endureto seethe evilthat shall cometo my people?or howcan I endureto seethe destructionof my kindred?

Then the kingAhasuerussaidto Estherthe queenand to Mordecaithe Jew,Look, I have givenEstherthe houseof Haman,and him they have hangedupon the gallows,because he laidhis handupon the Jews.
Writeyou also for the Jews,as it likesyou,in the king’sname,and sealitwith the king’sring:for the writingwhich is writtenin the king’sname,and sealedwith the king’sring,may no man reverse.
Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth its day; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, a hundred twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.
And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:
In which the kinggrantedthe Jewswhichwerein every cityto gather themselves together,and to standfor their life,to destroy,to slay,and to cause to perish,all the powerof the peopleand provincethat would assaultthem,bothlittle onesand women,andto takethe plunderof them for a prey,
Upon onedayin all the provincesof kingAhasuerus,namely, upon the thirteenthdayof the twelfthmonth,whichisthe monthAdar.
The copyof the writingfor a commandmentto be givenin every provincewaspublishedto all people,and that the Jewsshould be readyfor that dayto avengethemselves on their enemies.
Sothe poststhat rodeupon mulesandcamelswent out,being hastenedand pressed onby the king’scommandment.And the decreewas givenat Susathe palace.
And Mordecaiwent outfrom the presenceof the kingin royalapparelof blueand white,and with a greatcrownof gold,and with a garmentof fine linenand purple:and the cityof Susarejoicedand was glad.
The Jewshad light,and gladness,and joy,and honor.
And in every province,and in every city,whereverthe king’scommandmentand his decreecame,the Jewshad joyand gladness,a feastand a goodday.And manyof the peopleof the landbecame Jews;for the fearof the Jewsfellupon them.
