The wordthat came to Jeremiahconcerning all the peopleof Judahin the fourthyearof Jehoiakimthe sonof Josiahkingof Judah,thatwasthe firstyearof Nebuchadrezzarkingof Babylon;
The which Jeremiahthe prophetspakeunto all the peopleof Judah,and to all the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,saying,
From the thirteenthyearof Josiahthe sonof Amonkingof Judah,even unto this day,thatisthe threeand twentiethyear,the wordof the LORDhath come unto me, and I have spokenunto you, rising earlyand speaking;but ye have not hearkened.
And the LORDhath sentunto you all his servantsthe prophets,rising earlyand sendingthem; but ye have not hearkened,nor inclinedyour earto hear.
They said,Turn ye againnow every onefrom his evilway,and from the evilof your doings,and dwellin the landthat the LORDhath givenunto you and to your fathersforeverand ever:
And gonot afterothergodsto servethem, and to worshipthem, and provoke me not to angerwith the worksof your hands;and I will do you no hurt.
Yet ye have not hearkenedunto me, saiththe LORD;that ye might provoke me to angerwith the worksof your handsto your own hurt.
Therefore thus saiththe LORDof hosts;Because ye have not heardmy words,
Behold, I will sendand takeall the familiesof the north,saiththe LORD,and Nebuchadrezzarthe kingof Babylon,my servant,and will bringthem against this land,and against the inhabitantsthereof, and against all these nationsround about,and will utterly destroythem, and makethem an astonishment,and an hissing,and perpetualdesolations.
Moreover I will takefrom them the voiceof mirth,and the voiceof gladness,the voiceof the bridegroom,and the voiceof the bride,the soundof the millstones,and the lightof the candle.
And this whole landshall be a desolation,andan astonishment;and these nationsshall servethe kingof Babylonseventyyears.
And it shall come to pass, when seventyyearsare accomplished,thatI will punishthe kingof Babylon,and that nation,saiththe LORD,for their iniquity,and the landof the Chaldeans,and will makeit perpetualdesolations.
And I will bringupon that landall my wordswhich I have pronouncedagainst it,evenall that is writtenin this book,which Jeremiahhath prophesiedagainst all the nations.
For manynationsand greatkingsshall servethemselves of them also: and I will recompensethem according to their deeds,and according to the worksof their own hands.
For thus saiththe LORDGodof Israelunto me; Takethe winecupof this furyat my hand,and cause all the nations,to whom I sendthee, to drink
And they shall drink,and be moved,and be mad,becauseof the swordthat I will send
Then tookI the cupat the LORD'Shand,and made all the nationsto drink,unto whom the LORDhad sent
To wit, Jerusalem,and the citiesof Judah,and the kingsthereof, and the princesthereof, to makethem a desolation,an astonishment,an hissing,and a curse;asit isthis day;
Pharaohkingof Egypt,and his servants,and his princes,and all his people;
And all the mingledpeople, and all the kingsof the landof Uz,and all the kingsof the landof the Philistines,and Ashkelon,and Azzah,and Ekron,and the remnantof Ashdod,
Edom,and Moab,and the childrenof Ammon,
And all the kingsof Tyrus,and all the kingsof Zidon,and the kingsof the isleswhicharebeyondthe sea,
Dedan,and Tema,and Buz,and allthat arein the utmostcorners,
And all the kingsof Arabia,and all the kingsof the mingled peoplethat dwellin the desert,
And all the kingsof Zimri,and all the kingsof Elam,and all the kingsof the Medes,
And all the kingsof the north,farand near,onewith another,and all the kingdomsof the world,whichareupon the faceof the earth:and the kingof Sheshachshall drinkafter
Therefore thou shalt sayunto them, Thus saiththe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel;Drinkye, and be drunken,and spue,and fall,and riseno more, becauseof the swordwhich I will send
And it shall be, if they refuseto takethe cupat thine handto drink,then shalt thou sayunto them, Thus saiththe LORDof hosts;Ye shall certainlydrink.
For, lo, I beginto bring evilon the citywhich is calledby my name,and should ye be utterlyunpunished?Ye shall not be unpunished:for I will callfor a swordupon all the inhabitantsof the earth,saiththe LORDof hosts.
Therefore prophesythou against them all these words,and sayunto them, The LORDshall roarfrom on high,and utterhis voicefrom his holyhabitation;he shall mightilyroarupon his habitation;he shall givea shout,as they that treadthe grapes, against all the inhabitantsof the earth.
A noiseshall comeevento the endsof the earth;for the LORDhath a controversywith the nations,he will pleadwith all flesh;he will givethemthat arewickedto the sword,saiththe LORD.
Thus saiththe LORDof hosts,Behold, evilshall go forthfrom nationto nation,and a greatwhirlwindshall be raised upfrom the coastsof the earth.
And the slainof the LORDshall be at that dayfromoneendof the eartheven unto theotherendof the earth:they shall not be lamented,neither gathered,nor buried;they shall be dunguponthe ground.
Howl,ye shepherds,and cry;and wallowyourselvesin the ashes, ye principalof the flock:for the daysof your slaughterand of your dispersionsare accomplished;and ye shall falllike a pleasantvessel.
And the shepherdsshall have no wayto flee,nor the principalof the flockto escape.
A voiceof the cryof the shepherds,and an howlingof the principalof the flock,shall be heard: for the LORDhath spoiledtheir pasture.
And the peaceablehabitationsare cut downbecauseof the fierceangerof the LORD.
He hath forsakenhis covert,as the lion:for their landis desolatebecauseof the fiercenessof the oppressor,and becauseof his fierceanger.
