And Elijahsaidunto Elisha,Tarryhere, I pray thee; for the LORDhath sentme to Bethel.And Elishasaidunto him, As the LORDliveth,and as thy soulliveth,I will not leavethee. So they went downto Bethel.
And the sonsof the prophetsthat were at Bethelcame forthto Elisha,and saidunto him, Knowestthou that the LORDwill take awaythy masterfrom thy headto day?And he said,Yea, I knowit; hold ye your peace.
And Elijahsaidunto him, Elisha,tarryhere, I pray thee; for the LORDhath sentme to Jericho.And he said,As the LORDliveth,and as thy soulliveth,I will not leavethee. So they cameto Jericho.

And fiftymenof the sonsof the prophetswent,and stoodto viewafar off:and they twostoodby Jordan.
And Elijahtookhis mantle,and wrapped it together,and smotethe waters,and they were dividedhither and thither, so that they twowent overon dryground.
And it came to pass, when they were gone over,that Elijahsaidunto Elisha,Askwhat I shall dofor thee, before I be taken awayfrom thee. And Elishasaid,I pray thee, let a doubleportionof thy spiritbe upon me.
And he said,Thou hast askeda hard thing:nevertheless, if thou seeme when I am takenfrom thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
And it came to pass, as they stillwent on,and talked,that, behold, there appeared a chariotof fire,and horsesof fire,and partedthem bothasunder;and Elijahwent upby a whirlwindinto heaven.
And Elishasawit, and he cried,My father,my father,the chariotof Israel,and the horsementhereof. And he sawhim no more: and he took holdof his own clothes,and rentthem in twopieces.
He took upalso the mantleof Elijahthat fellfrom him, and went back,and stoodby the bankof Jordan;
And he tookthe mantleof Elijahthat fellfrom him, and smotethe waters,and said,Where is the LORDGodof Elijah?and when he also had smittenthe waters,they partedhither and thither: and Elishawent over.
And when the sonsof the prophetswhich were to view at Jerichosawhim, they said,The spiritof Elijahdoth reston Elisha.And they cameto meethim, and bowedthemselves to the groundbefore him.
And they saidunto him, Behold now, there bewith thy servantsfiftystrongmen;let them go,we pray thee, and seekthy master:lest peradventure the Spiritof the LORDhath taken him up,and casthim upon somemountain,or into somevalley.And he said,Ye shall not send.
And when they urgedhim till he was ashamed,he said,Send.They senttherefore fiftymen;and they soughtthreedays,but foundhim not.
And when they came againto him, (for he tarriedat Jericho,)he saidunto them, Did I not sayunto you, Gonot?
And the menof the citysaidunto Elisha,Behold, I pray thee, the situationof this cityis pleasant,as my lordseeth:but the wateris naught,and the groundbarren.
And he said,Bringme a newcruse,and putsalttherein. And they broughtit to him.
And he went forthunto the springof the waters,and castthe saltin there, and said,Thus saiththe LORD,I have healedthese waters;there shall not be from thence any more deathor barrenland.
So the waterswere healedunto this day,according to the sayingof Elishawhich he spake.
And he went upfrom thence unto Bethel:and as he was going upby the way,there came forthlittlechildrenout of the city,and mockedhim, and saidunto him, Go up,thou bald head;go up,thou bald head.
And he turnedback,and lookedon them, and cursedthem in the nameof the LORD.And there came forthtwoshe bearsout of the wood,and tarefortyand twochildrenof them.
And he wentfrom thence to mountCarmel,and from thence he returnedto Samaria.
