AndonetoldJacob,and said,Behold, thy sonJosephcomethunto thee: and Israelstrengthenedhimself, and satupon the bed.
And Jacobsaidunto Joseph,GodAlmightyappearedunto me at Luzin the landof Canaan,and blessed
And saidunto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful,and multiplythee, and I will makeof thee a multitudeof people;and will givethis landto thy seedafter theeforan everlastingpossession.
And now thy twosons,Ephraimand Manasseh,which were bornunto thee in the landof EgyptbeforeI cameunto thee into Egypt,aremine; as Reubenand Simeon,
And thy issue,which thou begettestafterthem, shall be thine,andshall be calledafterthe nameof their brethrenin their inheritance.
And as for me, when I camefrom Padan,Racheldiedby me in the landof Canaanin the way,whenyetthere wasbut a littlewayto comeunto Ephrath:and I buried herthere in the wayof Ephrath;the sameisBethlehem.
And IsraelbeheldJoseph'ssons,and said,
And Josephsaidunto his father,Theyaremy sons,whom Godhath givenme in thisplace. And he said,Bring them,I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless
Now the eyesof Israelwere dimfor age,so thathe couldnot see.And he brought them nearunto him; and he kissedthem, and embraced
And Israelsaidunto Joseph,I had not thoughtto seethy face:and, lo, Godhath shewedme also thy seed.
And Josephbrought them outfrom betweenhis knees,and he bowedhimself with his faceto the earth.
And Josephtookthem both,Ephraimin his right handtoward Israel'sleft hand,and Manassehin his left handtoward Israel'sright hand,and broughtthemnear
And Israelstretched outhis right hand,and laiditupon Ephraim'shead,whowasthe younger,and his left handupon Manasseh'shead,guidinghis handswittingly;for Manassehwasthe firstborn.
And he blessedJoseph,and said,God,beforewhom my fathersAbrahamand Isaacdid walk,the Godwhich fedme all my life longunto this day,
The Angelwhich redeemedme from all evil,blessthe lads;and let my namebe namedon them, and the nameof my fathersAbrahamand Isaac;and let them growinto a multitudein the midstof the earth.
And when Josephsawthat his fatherlaidhis righthandupon the headof Ephraim,it displeasedhim: and he held uphis father'shand,to removeit from Ephraim'sheadunto Manasseh'shead.
And Josephsaidunto his father,Not so, my father:for thisisthe firstborn;putthy right handupon his head.
And his fatherrefused,and said,I knowit, my son,I knowit: he also shall become a people,and he also shall be great:but trulyhis youngerbrothershall be greaterthan he, and his seedshall become a multitudeof nations.
And he blessedthem that day,saying,In thee shall Israelbless,saying,Godmakethee as Ephraimand as Manasseh:and he setEphraimbeforeManasseh.
And Israelsaidunto Joseph,Behold, I die:but Godshall be with you, and bring you againunto the landof your fathers.
Moreover I have givento thee oneportionabove thy brethren,which I tookout of the handof the Amoritewith my swordand with my bow.
