Psalms 100 · The Lantern

A Psalm of thanksgiving. Shout unto HaShem, all the earth.

Serve HaShem with gladness; come before His presence with singing.

Know ye that HaShem He is G-d; it is He that hath made us, and we our His, His people, and the flock of His pasture.

And what is this? I asked the earth; and it answered, "I am not He;" and whatsoever are therein made the same confession. I asked the sea and the deeps, and the creeping things that lived, and they replied, "We are not thy God, seek higher than we." We are taught by their testimonies that "it is God himself and not we ourselves who made us"—not only to be human beings but also to be holy and blessed human beings. If by the gift of his grace we pursue him eagerly, always with a pure and untiring heart, he will be propitious toward all our iniquities, according to the promises made to our ancestors.

The whole Trinity speaks these words: I am the Lord your God. He says therefore I, namely, the one whom you ought to obey and whom you ought to love and adore. Or he says I, who made you in the being of nature and in the being of grace.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; give thanks unto Him, and bless His name.

For HaShem is good; His mercy endureth for ever; and His faithfulness unto all generations.
